Another Insanely Violent “The Boys” Trailer Kills to the Spice Girls! [Video]
“I’m the world’s greatest superhero. I can do whatever the fuck I want.”
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the duo behind AMC’s “Preacher,” have another winner on their hands with “The Boys”, a new series that looks at the dark side of being a superhero and those who keep them in check.
Based on the ultraviolent comics by Garth Ennis (“Preacher”) and Darick Robertson, the series is set in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame. The boys are a group of vigilantes who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.
The newest trailer comedically doubles down on the blood and has the Spice Girls playing throughout. I’ve seen the first few episodes and promise you’re going to absolutely love this show.
Elisabeth Shue, Karl Urban, Jennifer Esposito, Jack Quaid, Colby Minifie, Jess Salgueiro, Brittany Allen and Bruce Novakowski are among the stars of the Amazon series.
Directed by 10 Cloverfield Lane’s Dan Trachtenberg, Amazon is bringing the comic series to the small screen July 26, 2019.
Jake Gyllenhaal hosted “Saturday Night Live” last night and the show’s most memorable sketch saw Gyllenhaal playing an iconic pop culture character: Fred from “Scooby-Doo.”
It was titled “Scooby-Doo and the Mystery of the Shadow Phantom,” with Gyllenhaal starring alongside musical guest Sabrina Carpenter as well as “SNL” cast members Sarah Sherman, Mikey Day, and Andrew Dismukes. While it starts like a traditional “Scooby” adventure, with the gang unmasking a mystery, it soon turns into a rated “R” bloodbath.
After Fred reveals the Phantom to be Old Man Franklin, he takes things a step too far and literally rips Old Man Franklin’s face clean off. From there, the Mystery Inc. gang is dispatched in increasingly gruesome ways, while Scoob chows down on the Old Man’s face.
The gore effects are largely digital, but we’ll let it slide.
